If you don’t know what this is google it, the science behind it will fascinate you.
Briefly, it states that in any system the majority of effects come from a small number of causes – the principle says that 80% of your results will come from 20% of your activity, so, for us as business owners the idea is to identify the 20%, concentrate all your efforts on this and you will be much more productive!
Understanding this principle is key to learning how to prioritise your tasks efficiently every day!
People often ask me how I get so much done each day and my answer is always…
Because I spend time identifying the right things to do and then intensely focus on getting them done…
Every.
Single.
Day.
It’s not just about getting more stuff done though, its getting the right stuff done.
The 80:20 rule says that:
• 80% of your sales will come from 20% of your customers,
• 80% of your profit will come from 20% of your products,
• 80% of your customers will come from 20% of your marketing.
A really useful exercise for you to do is to look carefully at how you spend a typical day and ask yourself…
Am I spending 80% of my time doing the 20% of things that will move my business forward?
And if not what do I need to do to change this?
Achieving your goals becomes much easier when you have absolute clarity about what you’re trying to achieve!
And when you are able to determine the 20% of activities that can really drive your business forward, and relentlessly focus on them, your business will really start to flourish.
It’s not easy – nothing ever is – but if you want to see real progress in your business this is a great place to start.
So…
Think about it…
Identify your 20% and then relentlessly focus on those activities.
You know it makes sense…
Hope that’s been helpful…
